Job Summary
Adult Corrections Officer Recruits receive training in security and custodial operations within correctional facilities. Responsibilities include maintaining the safety, security, and control of adult residents, monitoring activities, enforcing facility rules, conducting inspections and searches, responding to emergencies, and ensuring the secure operation of assigned posts. As training progresses, recruits become independently responsible for supervising residents and maintaining facility security during assigned shifts.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
One year of responsible work experience involving communication, following instructions, and working effectively with people.
Valid driver's license.
Must be at least 21 years of age by completion of required training.
Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency call-ins.
Must successfully pass drug screening and an extensive background investigation.
Must meet all federal and state firearms eligibility requirements.
Must possess strong integrity, honesty, tact, alertness, judgment, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to maintain security and control in a correctional environment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to observe and monitor inmate activities and surroundings.
Ability to distinguish colors and identify objects at a distance.
Ability to hear and respond to unusual sounds or emergencies.
Ability to operate security equipment, restraints, and firearms.
Ability to restrain or subdue inmates when necessary.
Ability to break up fights and respond to emergency situations.
Ability to perform searches and inspections.
Ability to carry, lift, and transport individuals when required.
Ability to work prolonged shifts and physically demanding assignments.
Additional Requirements
Must comply with Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) employment standards.
Must not have disqualifying criminal convictions related to firearms possession or PREA regulations.
Certain positions may require applicants to be female based on job-specific operational requirements.
